
The Devland Impuphu Knockout Finals has finally come to an end, with Natal Fresh Waters Angling Association recently hosting the finals at Sanford Zones A and B.
As reigning champions for the past two seasons, Itec Freespool was determined to take the win and secure the win for the third season in a row. As Itec Freespool’s main opponents, Riverside Angling Club was just as determined to overthrow Itec Freespool from its position of champions.
At the weigh-in, both teams were on jitters as the scale master made the announcement of the new champions.
The new champions of the Devland Impuphu Knockout league are Riverside Angling Club. However, it was a close call, with Riverside Angling Club securing 51 points over Itec Freespool’s 43 points.
Reeling in the heaviest carp of the day, weighing in at 3.370kg, was Daniel van Viek of Riverside.
Maintaining Riverside’s dominance, Jermaine Pillay reeled in the heaviest eel of the day, weighing in at 0.890kg.
Vernen Naicker of Riverside reeled in the heaviest barbel of the day weighing in at 3.465kg.
Debbie Robson of Itec Freespool reeled in the rare species of the day, a Kurper weighing in at 0.945kg.
Riverside Angling Club’s Chairman, Vernen Naicker is ecstatic his club has finally brought Itec Freespool’s winning streak to an end.
The final league will take place on March 15at Richgate Park.
