Tragedy struck on Friday evening, January 17, following the death of a young man who died after a collision along Albert Wessels Drive.

“When paramedics arrived on the scene, they found that a car had collided with a truck near the Zama Garage. The driver, a young male, had already succumbed to his injuries and there was nothing more that could be done to revive him,” says Jan-Henk van Vuuren of WATCO Emergency Medical Services.

While the cause of the collision is still unclear, it is speculated the car was travelling along Albert Wessels Drive when it collided into the truck which had been turning at the time. The matter will be investigated by the SAPS.

Pixelfishmarketing and the Newcastillian would like to extend its condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.
