Beauty radiates through one’s being, captivating the hearts and imaginations of all those who encounter it.

As beauty captivates us, every month the Newcastillian meets up with local beauties. Women who can silence a room simply by walking into it, their striking beauty drawing people in. This month’s Beauty of the Month is none-other than Bonita Janse van Rensburg.

As the brand ambassador for Mahindra Newcastle, farming Dormer Sheep and a mother of three, this powerhouse is no ordinary beauty.

How do you juggle motherhood, working at Mahindra and farming?

With her children being 10 years old, five years old and nine-months-old, Bonita feels family time is vital.

“It is important to divide your time for family and work. Personally, I don’t bring my family life to work and in the same breath, I do not take my work home with me and let it interfere with my family life.”

Zealous about her career at Mahindra Newcastle, Bonita says she is fortunate as she works in an environment that she loves. “Being passionate about my work does help. As I love what I do, it does not feel like work at all.”

Then there is the farming aspect of her life, another line of work which she is smitten with.

“We started farming with Dormer sheep in 2018 and farming is a lot of hard work. However, our first nine lambs were born in September and it is truly an exciting experience.”

As she diligently allocates time to her family, life at Mahindra Newcastle and farming, why does Bonita feel it is important for women and young girls to push themselves?

“I am personally motivated to make a success out of my life and I want my children to learn that from me. I want them to know that if they work hard, they can succeed in anything they desire.”

This outlook on life is vital, as she explains that through women and girls working hard and constantly pushing themselves, they will not have to rely on others. Their success will be theirs, allowing them to grow and develop as people.

“It empowers you and motivates you to succeed.”

What health tips can Bonita give to other women and young girls?

Laughing, Bonita says she doesn’t lead the healthiest of lifestyles. However, she explains it is pivotal for women and girls to make time for themselves.

“You have to make time to relax and work at it. For me, I am a member of the Voyages Motorcycle Club and I even have my own KTM motorcycle. This is my form of relaxation, as is going to the beach and of course, fishing,” she smiles.

While a tomboy at heart, what is the one make-up item Bonita cannot go without?

“I would have to say mascara,” she says.

Why does Bonita feel it’s important for one to put effort into their appearance?

“When you look good, you feel good. When I leave for work in the morning and I look good, I feel motivated,” she smiles.

What does beauty mean to Bonita?

“For me, beauty is the way you portray yourself and treat others,” she says.

What advice can Bonita give to others?

“I grew up on the farm and my dad was strict. But I learned to treat people the same way I would like to be treated and to always be honest.”

This she feels is important in everyday life, we as women and girls need to always be honest with both ourselves and others, while always treating people with respect.

As a strong, independent woman who constantly strives to enhance her life, Bonita Janse van Rensburg has truly earned this month’s beauty of the month.
