oSizweni SAPS confiscates firearm and drugs in busts

The quest for justice continues with oSizweni Policing Area conducting yet another intelligence-driven operation.

Assisted by oSizweni Crime Prevention unit, officials went to a house situated in Section A, oSizweni on September 18. At the house, the officers recovered one full mandrax tablet and four halves of mandrax tablets.

On the same day, the police officers recovered twenty small parcels of mandrax powder which was hidden in a Vaseline contained. The estimated street value of the drugs, which were recovered at another house in Section A, is believed to be R1 000.

In a separate intelligence-driven operation, which was conducted on September 13, oSizweni Policing Area, oSizweni Crime Prevention Unit, the Public Order Policing (POP) Unit and the Technical Response Team joined forces.

At a house in Section C, oSizweni, the team recovered one electric meter box, two large white candles and two small wine glasses, all of which were allegedly stolen from a church in oSizweni.

On September 14, the same team proceeded to a house in Section D, where the officers recovered seven full mandrax tablets and another three halves of mandrax tablets.

From there, the team went to two different taverns, where they recovered four quarters of mandrax tablet and one black Browning 9mm pistol and an empty magazine.

On September 15, the team proceeded to a house at Khumalo Stand, Blaauwbosch, where the team recovered four full mandrax tablets.

While patrolling the public road in the KwaMaKhasana area, the team saw a suspicious individual and searched him. On his possession, the officers recovered 75 cream white full mandrax tablets.

The estimated street value of the firearm is approximately R8 000, while the drugs have an estimated street value of R25 000. The suspected stolen items have an estimated street value of R6 000.

With the suspects since appearing in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court, further investigations are underway.
