oSizweni SAPS recover an estimated R30 000 worth of drugs

Following the release of the national crime statistics, oSizweni SAPS is doing its best to ensure crime doesn’t increase any further within its borders.

On September 5, the oSizweni Policing Area with the assistance of oSizweni Crime Prevention members conducted an intelligence-driven operation.

Following up on information, the officers made their way to oSizweni Section B, where they recovered seven full mandrax tablets.

The officers continued their intelligence-driven operation on September 7, the officers proceeded to KwaNsthangase Stand in Blaauwbosch. There, the officers recovered a 9mm pistol (Z88), one magazine and one live round of ammunition for a 9mm pistol, as well as one empty magazine for a 9mm pistol.

The operation did not end there, with the officers making their way to a home at KwaNtombifuthi Salon in Section B, oSizweni. At the house, the police recovered 26 small transparent plastic bags of cocaine.

The same day, the officers raided a home at Nyandeni Stand in Blaauwbosch, where they recovered three full mandrax tablets and one half mandrax tablet.

On September 8, the police officers noticed a Nissan Bakkie at a home in oSizweni Section A. Upon investigation, the police found seven sheets of metals, which were confiscated and is pending further investigation.

Following this incident, the two units went to a house in Msomi Stand, oSizweni, where they recovered three full mandrax tablets and nine small parcels of heroin.

The officers confiscated a further three full mandrax tablets and one half of a mandrax tablet on the same day at a house in Section D, oSizweni.

The estimated total value for the recovered Z88 9mm Pistol is R9 000, while the recovered drugs have an estimated street value of R15 000. The recovered scrap metal has an approximate value of R40 000.

The operation was considered a success with the respective culprits now in police custody.

Dedicated to eradicating the selling of drugs in oSizweni, the oSizweni Policing Area and oSizweni Crime Prevention Unit held another intelligence drive operation on September 11.

The first suspect was taken into custody after the SAPS went to Nxumalo Stand in oSizweni and recovered 80 full mandrax tablets.

Following the arrest, the SAPS went to Zulu Stand in Blaauwbosch and recovered two full mandrax tablets, eight halves of mandrax tablets and a further 10 quarters of mandrax tablets.

At another house in Blaauwbosch, the officers recovered three halves of mandrax tablets and a further four quarters of mandrax tablets. 

Newcastle SAPS spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Ncube says the estimated value of the drugs is approximately R15 000. 

Another intelligence-driven operation was conducted on September 12, where the oSizweni Policing Area, oSizweni Crime Prevention members and oSizweni Detectives were following up on information pertaining to drugs.

Patrolling the Newcastle/Utrecht Road, the officers pulled over a red VW Polo and searched the car. During the search, they recovered 48 small parcels of mandrax tablets.

Following this drug bust, the officers went to a home at Mngomezulu Stand, Blaauwbosch, where they recovered one black, 32-inch Hisense television set.

Captain Ncube says the television is linked to a case of housebreaking and theft, which occurred at Sikhakhane Stand, in Blaauwbosch on September 6.

The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is approximately R5000, while the estimated value of the television set is R2 500.
