Traffic flow along Albert Wessels Drive was heavily backed up following a collision between a truck and a bakkie on Monday evening, 29 June 2026, at the N11 and Albert Wessels Drive intersection.
At this stage, officials on the scene have not confirmed the sequence of events leading up to the crash.

However, the force of the impact caused the truck, which was transporting coal at the time, to overturn, spilling a substantial portion of its load on the side of the road. As a result, the vehicle partially obstructrd traffic, with authorities working to remove the truck and clear the debris from the scene.
Meanwhile, the bakkie sustained severe damage in the collision. Emergency responders have confirmed that both motorists were transported to hospital. However, no further details have been released regarding the extent of their injuries.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution when travelling along Albert Wessels Drive, as disruptions are expected to persist until the scene has been fully cleared.
As recovery teams continue to clear the overturned truck and remove the remaining coal from the roadway, traffic disruptions are expected to persist into the evening.
In the interim, motorists are advised to approach the area with heightened caution, reduce speed, and remain attentive to temporary traffic controls to ensure both their safety and that of personnel working at the scene.
