Evotel to donate new blankets in honour of Mandela Day

Stemming from the company’s ongoing commitment to the communities it serves, the Southern Africa Fibre Network Operator (FNO) leader, Evotel, proudly holds a prized tradition of contributing towards the enhancement of the lives of the less fortunate. Therefore, in the spirit of this, Evotel is elated to announce, in honour of Mandela Day, that it will team up with Mediclinic Newcastle in the private hospital’s drive to donate 1,000 blankets to those in need.

In light of this, the Fibre to the Home (FTTH) company of choice in the country committed to sponsoring brand new blankets to keep over 100 individuals warm over the winter season.

Moreover, as a great advocate of supporting the donation of blankets to charity organisations or shelters, the late statesman, Madiba, declared it a phenomenal medium in which to help the less fortunate, especially during the colder winter months.

Before passing away at the age of 95, in 2013, President Nelson Mandela bestowed South Africans with the task of holding hands and helping each other on 18 July, especially the vulnerable, by volunteering 67 minutes of their lives to assist others in various ways. The concept is a tribute to Mandela’s extraordinary 67 year commitment to fighting for social justice, and jointly, freedom for all South Africans.

In honouring this great leader’s legacy, Evotel has always played its part annually by contributing towards eradicating poverty and unemployment, by connecting South Africans with fast and reliable internet infrastructure.

When zooming in on the Mediclinic Newcastle initiative, the Northern KwaZulu-Natal healthcare institute announced that it was coordinating the blanket drive with like-minded organisations such as Evotel, whereby friends, businesses, and coworkers had the opportunity to step up and come together for a great cause.

Considering the profound impact the 100 blankets would have in the lives of community members, Evotel wasted no time in holding hands with Mediclinic Newcastle in their quest to assist the less fortunate, bringing some warmth and joy into their lives.
