Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal is gearing up for an automotive event this month and all are invited. The motorsport showcase, according to SRSA, is part of a series of events crafted to celebrate employees and express gratitude to the Ladysmith community for their continuous support over the past five decades.

SRSA CEO Lubin Ozoux further highlighted the significance of the event, stating, “We are so proud to be celebrating 50 years of manufacturing excellence this year, which would not have been possible without the ongoing support from our friends and family here in Ladysmith. This is why we are choosing not only to celebrate internally with our people but to extend the festivities to our neighbours to say thank you. Our motorsport extravaganza aims to celebrate the best in motorsport, excite the audience, and showcase the quality tyres we produce inside the factory. We take this opportunity to invite the community of Ladysmith to come and join us on Saturday, 30th September and share in the fun.”

The motoring spectacle is set to unfold in the Ladysmith town centre on Saturday, 30 September 2023, commencing at 9 am and concluding at 12 pm, with free admission for all.

Attendees will be treated to an array of precision driving and tyre shredding action, featuring some of South Africa’s top drifters and spinners showcasing their skills on the streets of Ladysmith.

Among the standout performers is Jim McFarlane, a multiple SA Drift Champion, who will represent South Africa at the Red Bull Car Park Drift World Final in Qatar later this year. Also gracing the event will be the immensely popular ‘First Lady of Spin’, Stacey Lee May. For two wheel enthusiasts, 15 time South African Trial Champion, Brent Le Riche, will bring his unique brand of gravity defying stunts to the spectacle.

While the event is open to the public at no cost, adventurous residents can opt for passenger rides in the drift cars, offering the ultimate ‘bums-in-seat’ experience. Passenger rides are priced at R150 per person per ride, and tickets can be purchased at the Ticket Kiosk at the Oval Shopping Centre.

In conjunction with the Motorsport Extravaganza, Dunlop is set to host a Dunlop Show ‘n Shine Competition on Saturday, 30th September, on the streets of Ladysmith, featuring a valuable shopping voucher as the grand prize.

Moreover, Car enthusiasts with various makes and models are encouraged to participate.

To nominate a vehicle for the competition, individuals can send an email to Dunlop50years@gmail.com, providing five images showcasing the car’s back, front, side, interior, and engine bay.

Cars selected for the competition should be parked outside the Town Hall by 8 am on the day of the event. Contestants will then have three hours and forty five minutes to prime their vehicles for judging, following which the winners will be announced.

The winner of the Dunlop Show ‘n Shine Competition will secure a shopping voucher worth R5,000.
