In a blow to the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), the African National Congress (ANC) has emerged victorious in the battle for control over Dannhauser Municipality.
The Dannhauser Municipality officially announced the newly elected leadership on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, solidifying the ANC’s triumph.
Furthermore, the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal boldly declared, “Last week, as the African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal, we made a resolute statement about the complete annihilation of the IFP in various municipalities.”
Now, with taking Dannhauser Municipality, the ANC extended its congratulations to the leadership of the Mbuso Kubheka Region, ANC councillors, and all other councillors from the EFF and Community Party Forum.
“Their collective efforts have expedited the downfall of Inkatha in Dannhauser Local Municipality,” proclaimed the KZN ANC. They further attributed the defeat and removal of the former IFP Mayor, Cllr Sibisiso Kunene, to a recent vote of no confidence.
Moreover, both the political party and the municipality welcomed the following office bearers under the new leadership:
- Cllr Bongani Hadebe of the ANC assumes the position of Dannhauser Mayor.
- Cllr Busisiwe Langa, also from the ANC, will serve as the Deputy Mayor.
- Cllr Sbusiso Myaka of the CPF has been appointed as the Speaker.
As the ANC prepares to take the reins of the Dannhauser Municipality, the political party said that this is just the beginning of its mission to regain control over Northern KZN and the entire province.
