Local police officers, security companies, paramedics, and crime fighters joined forces in a heroic effort that saved the life of a teenage girl.
On Monday, May 29, 2023, a teenage girl from the Newcastle School of Industries, Sunset View, attempted suicide.
Imran Ghafoor of the Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team reported that the incident unfolded around 12 pm when the young girl climbed up the tower with the intention of jumping.
“The necessary officials with harnesses were contacted to help get her down. Those on the scene ensured her safety until the necessary team arrived,” said Ghafoor.
The mission to save the girl took three hours to bring her down uninjured.

Officer Davis from Traffic Services and Warrant Officer Hollaway from Saps Search and Rescue fearlessly climbed the tower to safely rescue the girl.
