In an effort to make access to services easier for Newcastillians who rely on the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), the Department of Labour and Employment will deploy its mobile bus to Newcastle from Monday, 8 May 2023, until Friday, 12 May 2023.
According to the Department, the bus will be on site to assist with benefit claims. Those wishing to make a claim are advised to bring along an identity or passport document, a completed UI-19 and UI-2.8 forms, a salary schedule, and a black pen.
But that’s not all. The Department of Employment and Labour’s Public Employment Services (PES) branch will also be available on site to register CVs on the Employment Services of South Africa (ESSA) system.
“The aim is to increase the employment chances of residents in the area,” said the Department in a statement.
ESSA is a system that allows work seekers to register their CVs for potential job opportunities, search for available jobs, and apply for new job opportunities. The system can be accessed on https://essa.labour.gov.za/
These activities are taking place in conjunction with Workers Month at the Newcastle Labour Centre, located at 27 Ayliff Street in the Newcastle Central Business District.
This initiative by the Department of Employment and Labour serves as a ray of hope for those struggling with unemployment in the area. It is an opportunity for individuals to take a step forward towards securing employment and a brighter future.
