Vehicle linked to Eastern Cape robbery found in Newcastle

A vehicle linked to a business robbery in MqanduliEastern Cape, was recovered in the Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal suburb, Paradise.

Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team member, Imran Ghafoor, explained that information regarding the vehicle and its driver was supplied to law enforcement.

The team comprised of the Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team, the SAPS and Optimus Protection Services and Anti Hijacking managed to apprehend the driver of the car on 6 February 2023.

According to Ghafoor, the vehicle was recovered and was positively linked to a case in Mqanduli and obtained during the said business robbery.

“He (the driver) was charged for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and charged for displaying false number plates on the car. Further police investigations will also be underway regarding the business robbery,” concluded Ghafoor.
