Hunt for Lions Underway in Northern KZN

A male lion was spotted along the P700 road near Ulundi, Northern KwaZulu-Natal, on Wednesday, 31 August 2022.

The apex predator is believed to be part of the pride of lions that escaped from Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park during the course of August 2022.

The Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife officials have confirmed that the search for the lion is currently underway, further highlighting that no attacks on humans have occurred. In addition, the Ulundi Municipality has stated that livestock has allegedly been killed by the escaped lions.

Furthermore, the exact number of lions roaming Northern KwaZulu-Natal could not be confirmed by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife.
