Following a recent announcement, numerous Newcastillians will face power disruptions as of Wednesday, 23 March 2022.
According to the Newcastle Municipality Communication Unit, the Municipal Electrical Department has scheduled dates for the maintenance of the 11kv substations.
On Wednesday, 23 March 2022, Sunnyridge SS will be impacted by the repair work.
Between 8 am and 4 pm on the said day, the following streets will be affected by power disruptions:
- Erica Street
- Paddock Drive
- Uranus Crescent
- Firmstone Road
- Protea Avenue
- Chromite Avenue
- Drakensberg Drive
- Milky Way
- M Arderndorff Avenue
- Begonia Avenue
- Agate Avenue
- Amethyst Drive
Furthermore, on Wednesday, 6 April 2022, the Electrical Department will continue with the maintenance work with Northdowns SS being impacted.
This will see the following streets impacted by power outages:
- Aquamarine Street
- Dolomite street
- Star Drive
- Zircon Avenue
- Gemini Avenue
- Perel Avenue
- Libra Avenue
- Gypsum Road
- Pisces Crescent
- Sagittarius Road
- Jade Avenue
- Amethyst Drive
“Consumers are urged to, for the full duration of the interruption, treat all electrical installation as live,” states the Newcastle Municipality Communications Unit.
