Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

Sadly, a 63-year-old woman passed away while waiting in line for the Covid-19 vaccine at the Tongaat Sports Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, 22 June 2021.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) spokesperson Prem Balram explains that RUSA received a call from the woman’s family requesting assistance at the vaccination centre. RUSA Medics were dispatched to the scene and, on arrival, found the elderly woman in the back seat of a Volvo—who was declared deceased upon assessment.

Balram claimed that according to the medical staff at the vaccination centre, the older woman went into respiratory distress prior to receiving her vaccination. On-site doctors attempted to stabilise the Lotusville – Verulam resident, however, her condition deteriorated rapidly.

Her family then opted to transport her to a medical facility, and she was loaded into a car. They then contacted the RUSA Operations Center for assistance when they realised that she became unresponsive.

As the family deals with the sad passing of a loved one, Pixelfish Marketing and Newcastillian – Online News extends its heartfelt condolences during this trying time.
