Concerning recent developments regarding the removal of fake products from circulation, Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele stated that R700 000 worth of counterfeit takkies were seized on 9 June 2021, following an intelligence-driven operation on the R69, Vryheid/Hlobane Road next to Shoma Settlement.
“While the police officers were busy, they spotted a suspicious bakkie travelling on the same route and it was intercepted. Upon searching the said vehicle, the police discovered bales of counterfeit sneakers at the back of the bakkie,” said Mbele. Police seized the various brands of counterfeit takkies, and the 30-year-old suspect was placed under arrest.
