Phase two of the vaccination rollout is officially underway—87 sites are ready for the elderly.
According to Health Minister Mkhize, the government will run 83 of the vaccination sites, while the private sector will handle four.
With the vaccination rollout in operation, Mkhize reiterated the government’s strategy to immunise citizens aged 60 and above in the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination plan, as they are deemed the most vulnerable
During a recent press briefing, he explained that the government was planning to inoculate five million senior citizens by the end of June, provided there are enough vaccines. However, he reminded citizens that they need to take adequate documents for identity verification such as an ID card or ID book, drivers licence or passport, after receiving their invite via SMS. Meanwhile, people who belong to a medical aid scheme should carry their medical aid card or other details.
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health has named the sites where Newcastillians can be vaccinated. These sites are as follows:
The operating days will be from Sunday to Sunday, with the working hours earmarked as 7 am until 6 pm. However, the operating hours for Ceza Hospital will be from 7 am until 5 pm.
