Easter Traffic Updates, Drones, Newcastillian - Online News

Looking at road safety, Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula explained that while South African roads are meant to allow access to both economic activities, as well as social infrastructure and amenities, lives are being lost due to those who choose to be reckless, undermining the rights of others with their conduct.

Therefore, Law enforcement will now be upping its game this weekend, with Mbalula explaining that his department bolstered its e-law enforcement by investing in drones.

He states drones will assist authorities in identifying hazards on the roads while also identifying motorists who are driving recklessly and at high speeds. Adding to this, Deputy Transport Minister Dikeledi Magadzi said the department was also now ready to issue traffic officers with body cameras. These cameras are meant to support officials in collecting evidence and enhance the conviction rate for any traffic law violations.
