Consistently placing emphasis on quality education while simultaneously inspiring development, Curro Mount Richmore Independent School highlights the value-adds provided at their school, all of which equip parents with an opportunity to save time, develop their child academically and emotionally, and, in some cases, assist financially. Executive Head for Curro Mount Richmore, Bryn Thomas, elucidates, “From offering academic support to learners who may struggle with certain subjects, to an in-house psychologist who can help with the learner’s emotional and academic growth, our value-adds provide parents with a time-saving bus service and loving aftercare where learners are catered for, homework is supervised, and a stimulating activity programme provided.”

Michael Fischer, Head of Intermediate phase, points out that “Our value-adds allow for study skills workshops, where our learners are taught how to study for exams, how to retain information, and how to best prepare them for IEB and the workplace one day. Going a step further, Curro Mount Richmore offers parent webinars, where parents can be shown how to assist their child with time management or how to assist them study. Then there is the Gentleman’s Society, which focusses on equipping young men with the necessary skills required to conduct themselves appropriately across a myriad of situations.” 

Moreover, the Head of Primary School, Bafana Mabena, emphasises the purpose of value-adds at the school are as much for parent convenience, as they are to better the learners. “The value-adds at Curro Mount Richmore run from the Castle to Grade 12, growing and nurturing our learners with each passing year.”

Discussing a range of opportunities offered at Curro Mount Richmore, Eugene Montgomery, Head of High School, highlights, “Our learners can participate in WRO (World Robotics Olympiad), Academic Olympiads, AMESA Mathematics challenge, Afrikaans Eisteddfod, in-house Grade 9 aptitude testing, Learn2Swim programme, Phonological awareness programmes, Occupational therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and more. We are constantly looking for new innovative ways to help our learners realise the best of their abilities.”

Additionally, Head of High School Academics, Prindha Francis, states, “Currently, we are looking at opening a Mathematics and Science Academy whereby learners from both our school and the community may join us on campus in the afternoon for extra lessons.” 

Furthermore, Head of the Foundation Phase, Mandie Coetzee, points out, “This level of dedication highlights the hours spent working to establish what our children need and how we can better help them.”
