St Dominics Newcastle 2020 matric results, 35-year 100% pass rate achieved

St Dominics Newcastle has released its matric results for the class of 2020, seeing the private institute boasting a 35-year 100% matric pass rate. Despite the challenges endured over the past year, Grade 12 learners produced outstanding matric results.

Out of a class of 47 students, 44 of the learners obtained a bachelor’s degree pass (94 % Bachelor’s degree pass). Moreover, 89 subject distinctions were obtained. Executive Head Chad Moses highlights the matriculants marks are nothing short of remarkable. “The class and staff of 2020 put in an exceptional effort to achieve these excellent results. They have, in true St Dominics fashion, pushed the levels of achievement to new heights. St Dominics can now proudly boast of its 35-year 100% pass rate streak.”

Furthermore, he points out St Dominics Newcastle is undoubtedly the school of choice for families wishing to provide their children with the best opportunity to take bold, significant steps towards their future. “For excellence in education, look nowhere else, we celebrate 130 years of excellence in education this year, and the class of 2020 have ensured that our celebrations kick off in the best possible way.”

Here are the St Dominics Newcastle 2020 matric results:

  • 100% pass rate
  • 94 % Bachelor’s degree pass
  • 89 Subject distinctions
  • 15 learners with 3 or more distinctions
  • 11 subjects above the IEB average
  • 10 learners achieving “A” aggregates
  • 9 subjects with averages of 70% and above
  • 5 students in the top 1% Nationally in 4 subjects
  • 1,9 distinctions per candidate
  • 1 student on Independent Education Board Commendable achievement list

A total of 10 students obtained ‘A’ aggregates—they are:

Cherry Cheung, Nospiho Dladla, Nicole Downs (90% aggregate), Mihir Lalbeharie, Mukelwa Masondo, Thandolwethu Nkosi, Omera Ramdharee, Malaaika Siddique, Mpendulo Simelane and Omhle Zaca.

The following students achieved 3 or more distinctions:

  • Chloe Chetty- 3 distinctions
  • Cherry Cheung- 5 distinctions
  • Nospiho Dladla – 6 distinctions
  • Che-leah Dowdle- 3 distinctions
  • Nicole Downs- 7 distinctions
  • Natasha Friend -3 distinctions
  • Minette Janse Van Vuuren- 3 distinctions
  • Mihir Lalbeharie – 4 distinctions
  • Mukelwa Masondo – 4 distinctions
  • Thandolwethu Nkosi – 4 distinctions
  • Omera Ramdharee- 6 distinctions
  • Malaaika Siddique – 7 distinctions
  • Mpendulo Simelane – 4 distinctions
  • Omhle Zaca – 6 distinctions
  • Akwande Zwane -3 distinctions

IEB Commendable achievement – achieved within the top 5% in five subjects and achieved a rating Level of 7 in Life Orientation: Malaaika Siddique.

The following student /s were in the top 1% Nationally in the following subjects:

Afrikaans First Additional Language: Nicole Downs and Minette Janse Van Vuuren

Business Studies: Thandolwethu Nkosi

 English Home Language: Omera Ramdharee

 IsiZulu First Additional Language: Asanda Sibisi

The following subjects were above the IEB average: Accounting, Afrikaans First Additional Language, Business Studies, English Home Language, Engineering Graphics and Design, Geography, IsiZulu First Additional Language, Life Orientation, Life Sciences, Mathematical Literacy & Visual Arts (11 in total ) 9 of those subjects achieved an average of 70% and above.
