Emadlangeni (Utrecht) Municipality is taking stringent steps in the fight against the contagion, ensuring it does not jeopardise its staff or residents’ health.
With several businesses and Government entities returning to work this past Monday, 4 January 2020, Emadlangeni residents would have noticed the Municipality’s doors have remained shut. But not without good cause. In a statement issued by the Municipality, the Government entity stated its doors were closed as of 5 January 2020 and will only reopen on 11 January 2020.
The Emadlangeni Municipality statement reads, “This is to enable the Disaster Management Unit to decontaminate all offices, in terms of the Department of Health Guidelines.” This ensures any trace of the virus, which might have crept into the building during the holiday period, is eliminated.
However, it is essential to highlight that while the municipality offices are temporarily closed, all employees engaged in essential services will continue to work. This includes firefighter, refuse collectors, the traffic unit, and Disaster Management Unit. Additionally, the Cashier Unit will operate from 8 am until 12 pm during the period.
As of 11 January, when the offices reopen, the Municipality highlights that all health protocols will be implemented in line with the Department of Health Guidelines—thereby showing the Municipality’s determination to assist in minimising the spread of the virus.
