World’s wildlife embraces COVID-19 lockdown measures

The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has taken the world by storm with over 2 million confirmed cases worldwide.

Countries such as the US, Italy and Spain are facing overwhelming odds as they combat the virus. The US has over 644 000 confirmed cases, while Spain has over 180 000 cases. Italy has over 165 000 cases. The death tolls of these three countries are devastating.

To date, there are 2506 confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa.

As scores of countries around the world are combating the virus, it seems wildlife is taking advantage of mankind focusing on VOVID-19.

As various countries enforce a lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19, animals are now wandering around towns and cities at their leisure.

As animals around the world enjoy a timeout from mankind, wildlife in South Africa is also reaping certain rewards from the lockdown regulations.

In KZN, shark nets and drumlines have been temporarily removed. And it has been reported that there has been a substantial decrease in pollution being pumped into the ocean at Richards Bay.

With wildlife enjoying a minimal presence of humans, we look at some more videos and images captured around the world.
