A police officer will be making his way into court today, December 17, facing two charges of murder which took place over the weekend.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) claims the incident took place on Saturday, December 17. Apparently the 38-year-old constable, who is based at the operation response service in Richards Bay, was off duty when he shot and killed two brothers.
The Ipid claims the incident occurred at approximately 9 am in the Nseleni area, northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Apparently, the constable was involved in a heated argument with one of the deceased. Allegedly, the argument was regarding the level of noise stemming from the deceased’s house during the previous night.
The argument apparently escalated, and the deceased allegedly assaulted the constable, before the two separated.
A short time later, the constable walked to the Nseleni satellite police station to open an assault case against the deceased. However, on the way to the satellite police station, he was stopped by the deceased and his brother.
Another heated argument broke out. However, during the argument, the police officer shot and killed the two brothers. He was arrested and charged with two counts of murder.
He will be appearing in the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court today.
