SAPS recover a stolen vehicle and educate young girls

In the war against crime, the South African Police Services (SAPS) are the first line of defence. Making it their mission to protect the community from the criminal element.

On August 20, members of Amajuba Cluster Task Team recovered a Ford Laser at Theku Plaza. Captain Jabulani Ncube, Newcastle SAPS spokesperson, explains the vehicle was stolen from Kathelong during October 2016.

Constables Ntokozo Mncube, Sthembiso Thwala and Thulile Mncube are commended for their hard work and dedication in recovering the stolen vehicle.

While working on eradicating crime, the SAPS is also determined to make a positive impact on society through community-based initiatives, such as Take a Girl Child to Work Project Amajuba District.

Every year, schools are selected randomly by the Department of Education, in partnership with the Department of SAPS, to expose the learners on different careers. This is to ensure they will be able to make an informed decision, looking at the streams offered by schools.

This year, S.E. Vawda, St Oswald Secondary and Chelmsford School were selected.

At the Newcastle Police Station, Captain Ncube gave the learners a tour of the station. During the tour, they visited the Community Service Centre, Victim Friendly Room and awaiting trial prisoners’ cells.

The learners were also reminded of the negative implications of obtaining a criminal record at a young age. Therefore, Captain Ncube concluded the tour by advising learners to stick to their studies and stay clear from anything illegal.

Well done to the police of the Amajuba District for doing their part in combatting crime and educating the youth.
