The time has come for running enthusiasts to shrug off the winter blues in exchange for their running shoes.
Come August 3, St Martin’s Village will be co-hosting the 4 x 1km Relay Fund Raising event with Grey Goose.
The purpose of the event is to raise funds for St Martin’s Village.
Situated in Ouklip Lane, St Martin’s Village is a beacon of hope for children in need. A place of safety for babies who are in dire need of a loving home. As a non-profit organisation, St Martin’s Village relies heavily on the support of the community. Which is why initiatives such as this play an instrumental role in their success.
How does one enter the fundraiser?
Robyn Pentz of St Martin’s Village explains there are four divisions in which to enter. There is the men’s division, the women’s division, the mixed division which consists of two men and two women, and the junior division for children under 13 years of age.

The run will start in the parking lot and will go around the dam at Grey Goose.
Entrance fee is R200 per team, with participants being able to visit St Martin’s Village’s website and register online.
“Teams will also be able to enter on the day at a cost of R250 per team,” says Robyn.
Prizes are up for grabs for the fastest team in the respective categories. Furthermore, to make the day more interesting, anyone sharing the St Martin’s Village’s post around the day, also stands a chance to win a prize. Businesses and schools are also invited to enter teams and challenge other businesses, staff and schools.
“Our goal is to see 50 teams enter and make it a day focusing not only St Martin’s, but also making it a day of socialising and fun.
Stepping up to the challenge in assisting St Martin’s Village on the day, are the Newcastle Harriers, Konica Minolta, Design Ink and Zulian Zaya of the Farmer’s Market.
Be sure to participate in the event and do your part to support a worthy initiative.
