The weekend is finally upon us, with Newcastillians prepped to break away from their routines and enjoy a well-deserved break.

As the community prepares to unwind, what is there to look forward to this weekend?

Durban Dash to drive through Newcastle

July 6 – On Saturday, the Durban Dash will be making its way through Newcastle.

Participants in the Durban Dash drive will be coming from Randburg going to Scottburgh for the Scottburgh Classic Car Show.

What makes the Durban Dash unique is that all forms of vehicles can participate in the event. With no rules on the type of vehicles allowed to enter the Durban Dash, the event promises to be a must-attend day out.

Before the Durban Dash participants depart and head to the Scottburgh Classic Car Show, they will be showcasing their cars at Amajuba Mall parking lot from 8 am until 10 am on July 6.

Newcastle Raceway Club

July 6 – Warming up the winter evening, Newcastle Raceway will be hosting its monthly Oval Track racing event this Saturday. Gates open at 2 pm and racing starts at 5 pm.

Be sure to make your way to the Oval Track this weekend to cheer on your favourite racer.

Entrance fee is R50 per adult, R20 for children under 12 and R10 per car.

Hack Attack Social Golf League

July 7 – The Hack Attack Social Golf League continues this Sunday.

The Hack Attack Golf League is a league like no other, ushering in a new era of the sport. The main aim to promote the sport of golf and camaraderie, giving golf enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy the social and sports-related aspects of the popular pastime.

The venue for the league alternates between Newcastle Golf Club, Vulintaba Golf Course and Kilbarchan Golf Course. However, this Sunday, the league will introduce golfers to the Dundee Golf Course for a change, offering participants a new arena to test their golfing skills.
