Winter Sunday mornings are made for sleeping in. An opportunity to snuggle up in the warmth of your bed, the alarm clock forgotten.
However, come this Sunday morning, June 23, Newcastillians can expect an event which will bring colour to an otherwise cool winter’s day.
Newcastle Oval Track will be hosting its Family Fun Day. An event which will cater to the entire community.
Set to begin at 9 am, the event will begin with a 5km Colour Run. Registration for the Colour Run will begin at 7.30am and end at 8.30am. Entrance fee is R30 per person for the run. There will be a free breakfast and medals for the participants.
For reservations or enquiries, contact either Zanitta on 083 657 1078 or Wilna on 072 403 6334 or Wilna357@yahoo.com.
There will also be suicide rides available at R50 per person. For those who yearn for an adrenaline rush, be sure to enter your quad bike for a few laps of high-octane fun. For those who take great pride in their vehicles, there will be a Show-Your-Ride segment. Entrance fee to this is R80 per car.
There is also a colouring competition available for children. As well as a variety of stalls on the day for the community.
For those who want to put up a stall at the event, the cost is R100 per stall.
Zaakira Khan from the Newcastle Oval Track explains the purpose of the day is two-fold.
“It’s a fundraiser for the club and it’s a great day for the community to spend a family day out, enjoying some fun and action.”
With loads of prizes and entertainment lined up for the day, be sure not to miss out on this community-driven initiative.
