French biologist, Louis Pasteur once said, “Science knows no country, because knowledge belongs to humanity, and is the torch which illuminates the world.”
With the constant evolution of the technological and medical worlds, taking mankind to new heights, Pasteur’s words resonate truth.
St Dominics Newcastle hosted a two-day science expo from April 15 to April 16, where Grade 9, Grade 10 and Grade 11 learners showcased an array of experiments and scientific research which could benefit the world.
The Science Expo takes place on an annual basis, with the science projects being judged by school teachers and professionals in the science world. Following the same rules as the Eskom Science Expo, participating learners are required to put in substantial research into their projects.
Answering an array of questions posed by judges, the winners will be awarded for their efforts on Wednesday, April 24. The winners will then be able to move onto the regional championships in Ladysmith, which will take place on July 26.
With the St Dominics Newcastle hall showcasing the best in scientific knowledge and research, the science expo proved to be a highly educational experience.
