
Determined to play a positive role within the community, Newcastle SAPS is taking proactive steps in involving the community to address certain issues.
On March 13, the Newcastle SAPS Firearms Liquor and Second-Hand Goods Control (FLASH) unit will be holding two meetings. The community is invited to participate in both meetings at the Newcastle Club.
The first meeting, General Dealers Forum meeting, will begin at 10am and is set to conclude at 11.30am.
The second meeting, Scrap Metal Forum meeting will begin at 12pm and will concluded by 1.30pm.

As the FLASH Unit is preparing to address issues pertaining to the General Dealers and Scrap Metals industries, the oSizweni SAPS is continuing its war against drugs.
On Tuesday, March 4, the oSizweni Policing Area, with the assistance of the Newcastle Cluster Task team, performed an intelligence-driven operation.

Following up on information pertaining to drugs, the officers proceeded to raid a house in Blaauwbosch. The estimated street value of the tablets is R1 500.
At the house, three full mandrax tablets, one half of a mandrax tablet and a quarter of a mandrax tablet was confiscated.
A 38-year-old man is now in police custody and will appear at the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court.
