Christmas is a month away and people around the world are getting into the spirit of the season. Decorations have come up, carols in the air and of course, that little feeling in your tummy, reminding you of that huge family lunch which is on its way.
From shopping for gifts to preparing for visitors, a lot of preparation goes into the day. But there is more to this special day than people realise. The entire month of December is classified as the festive season. The time of year where people from all walks of life unite as one and think about others. It is the time of year where giving, sharing and love prevails.
The Newcastillian asked both adults and children what their favourite part about Christmas is. Is it the gifts, the shopping or the time with family? This is what they have to say.

As a Christian holiday, the meaning of Christmas revolves around the birth of Jesus. Seen as both the promised Messiah and the Son of God, Jesus’s birth signifies God’s love for mankind that He was willing to send His only begotten son to live among man and ultimately die for their sins.
The festive period also reminds people to think of the less fortunate and others. It is also a time where the importance of family and friendship is emphasised.
