Allen Street collision leaves one dead

Traffic flow along Allen Street came to a virtual standstill shortly before 5 pm this afternoon (October 16). A serious collision between three vehicles seeing scores of ambulance services rushing to the sight of a tragic scene.

According to a source on the scene, one of the vehicles apparently veered off the road, careening into three cars, before crashing into a tree. “It is speculated he might have had an epileptic seizure. When paramedics got to him, he had no rhythm or pulse,” claims the source.

The exact cause of the collision is unclear at present. However, Allen Street was closed off while emergency personnel attended to the injured.

The motorist who initially veered off the road died on the scene, despite the efforts of paramedics.

Three people were rushed to hospital after the incident.

 

Paramedics at the scene of the incident attended the remaining injured patients. Two people were taken to Madadeni Provincial Hospital, while another was rushed to Newcastle Mediclinic.

Police investigations are currently underway.

The Newcastillian extends its condolences to the family of the deceased during this difficult time.
