Three would-be robbers are on the run, following a failed robbery attempt.

The victim explains she went to the Capitec ATM to withdraw money. “There was a man standing in front of me. He took his money and as I was about to use the machine, he said I must push a certain button. I looked at him and said “I knew how to withdraw money.”

It is then the man took a more brazen step. The woman says he attempted to grab her ATM card. However, she pulled back, refusing to allow him to get away with her card.

“I saw he was with two other men, so I screamed.”

With the attention of all the shoppers and mall staff now on them, the perpetrator and his accomplices now faced a difficult decision. Do they continue to battle the woman or flee before they are caught?

“He got such a fright that he and his two friends ran,” the brave woman explains.

The men managed to get to their vehicle and speed off. However, during their escape, the men hit two other vehicles on their way out.

No injuries were sustained. Police investigations are now underway.
