History was made with South Africa’s Constitutional Court legalising marijuana for personal use. A victory for many reasons.
For 5000 years cannabis has been used to treat hundreds of sicknesses and diseases, yet for around only 70 years it was demonised and made out to be some evil plant, which was ridiculously compared to drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
The government now has 24 months to write the bill into law. Then, the ANC must now determine just how much an individual can use. There is also the possibility of sin taxes, plus how and where it can be bought. Once this is all done, then you can light up in peace.
While millions of people are ecstatic about the decriminalising of dagga, there are those who are horrified. But, did you know there are major benefits to smoking cannabis?
Dagga decreases anxiety on levels comparable to that of scheduled tranquilisers
Why spend thousands of Rands to pump your body full of medication to soothe your anxiety, while dealing with the backlash of major, life-changing side effects? When you can simply have a few puffs of nature given cannabis?
In 2010, researchers from Harvard University found that low doses of marijuana can alleviate anxiety. Acting as a sedative and for improving the user’s mood, it can prove to be more beneficial than continuously using medication.
Marijuana improves lung health
This is good news for smokers who are trying to give up nicotine and want to boost their lung capacity. Yes, for those who were taught dagga was like tobacco, you were extremely misinformed.
A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2012, showed dagga improved lung functions and increased lung capacity.
Pot reduces pain, reduces nausea from chemo and improves appetite

It relieves these side effects with mind-blowing effectiveness. Giving people who are fighting the dreaded disease, assistance and comfort, without any side effects.
It soothes arthritis discomfort plus combats Alzheimers’s disease
That’s right if you or your grandmother has arthritis, then marijuana is the solution. Dagga alleviates pain, reduces inflammation and discomfort for those with rheumatoid arthritis.
Cannabis slows the progression of Alzheimers’s disease by physically blocking the plaque which damages brain cells.
The list of benefits goes on and on. The more we study the plant and its compounds the more we discover its amazing benefits. The only thing hurting this natural medicine is the misinformation which was peddled to people over the past few decades.
Cannabis helps to ease the pain of people suffering from multiple sclerosis
According to a study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.
30 multiple sclerosis patients were studied. These patients didn’t respond to other treatments, but after smoking marijuana for a few days, they reported that they were in less pain.
The list is endless, with tens of millions of success stories being shared globally.
Would you not agree, that with the unprecedented collection of evidence about the benefits of dagga, that opening our minds is in order?
With dagga promising to assist those with medical conditions, who knows where we will go from here. What are your thoughts on the matter?
