Grow Cable, for when you are way too attached to your cellphone

When it comes to modern day life, there are two things you need throughout the day. Your cellphone and its charger.

Over the past few years, both cellphones and their respective chargers have changed tremendously, moving away from the usual bland designs. However, it seems that cellphone designers have finally gone a tad too far.

A Japanese designer, Lizawa Mio, has created a cellphone charger that resembles an umbilical cord. While horribly lifelike, what makes this monstrosity of an iPhone charger even weirder, is that it pulsates while charging your phone. It is supposed to represent a mother feeding a fetus. Ewww!!!!! The fact that the texture and colour are also rather spot on, adds to the gross factor.

Apparently, Mio designed this charger as commentary on society’s growing dependence on their cellphones. While people are more dependant on their phones than previous generations, this is just too weird for my liking.

Dubbed the Grow Cable, this rather unusual charger can be purchased through Etsy, an online shopping website for a staggering $5 600. Why anyone will purchase a creepy charger, that is sure to give you nightmares, is beyond me.

The bright side of this charger, if you buy it for your children, they will surely use their cellphones less. After all, it is better to try and save battery life than use the Grow Cable.

What are your thoughts on the Grow Cable? Do you think it makes for a great novelty gift? Or do you think it is something the Addams family will be comfortable using?
