Striving to enhance service delivery, the Newcastle Municipality has selected Nedbank as its new banking partner.
Celebrating the dawn of a new banking era, Newcastle Municipality hosted a festive event today, July 6. An event which officials and residents witness the first step in enhancing Newcastle’s finances and service delivery.
Municipal Manager, Errol Mswane, explains that making a significant change in its banking systems and provider is a step in ensuring the community is happier. “This is an important milestone. Nedbank is now a partner in service delivery,” Mswane says.

Through the partnership, the bank will ensure there is accountability and transparency in the running of the municipality and town.
“When people enter the municipal building, they must feel important. Which is why this partnership with Nedbank is important, we want to make people happier,” Mswane emphasised.
The Municipal Manager is not the only individual who feels the new partnership can have a positive impact on town.
“We look forward to our partnership and remain grateful the municipality has selected Nedbank as its financial partner,” says Vika Ngcobo, Nedbank Public Sector Provincial Manager for KwaZulu-Natal.
Ngcobo adds, “Nedbank is a money expert with an understanding of the local municipality’s business. It will support the municipality through customised banking solutions and services. We have a decentralised service model that empowers our regions to offer end-to-end business solution.”

Working with two other municipalities, Ngcobo says it understands the needs of the municipality and its residents.
“As the new primary banking partner to Newcastle Municipality, we will continue to deliver sound business advice and excellent business banking solutions to the municipality and community. This provides us with another opportunity to use our financial expertise to do good for the public sector and is proof of our commitment to partner with government towards building a greater South Africa by growing the economy and creating jobs,” he concludes.
Nedbank also donated a staggering R30 000 to a charitable cause, which will be selected by the Newcastle Municipality.
