Racing away the winter blues at Newcastle Raceway Club

The cool evening setting, spectators gathering around the Oval Track with bated breath. Racers start their engines; the checker flag is waved, and the roaring sound of cars fills the night sky.

Saturday, June 2, marked Newcastle Raceway Club’s monthly racing event. A night of high-octane family fun.

In the Rookie division, Stephan van der Merwe clinched the win with Imitaz Ameer and Tiaan Buys following in second and third place respectively.

Jean de Necker secured a win in the 1600 division. Zaakira Khan sped into second place and Johann de Jager in third place.

In the 1660 division, Hendrik van der Merwe sped into first place, followed by Tiaan Buys in second place and Ruan Botha in third place.

Gideon Hand clinched the win in the Hot Rod division, followed by Hendrik van der Merwe in second and Ruan Botha in third place.

Gideon Hand’s winning streak continued during the two-litre division, by speeding into first place. He was followed by Jean de Necker in second place and Shaukat Khan in third place. The victory for the Tin Top division went to Jean de Necker, with Dewald Botha coming into second place.
