Freaky Friday: Elon Musk wants to link humans with AI

The digital age is constantly changing, virtually evolving into creations from a science fiction novel.

With scientists creating an array of technological devices that leave us awed, it seems Elon Musk is set to make the ultimate digital device…again. The South African-born, Amercian business mega-mind, investor and engineer is set to finally break the barrier between man and machine.

As the founder and CEO of SpaceX, co-founder, CEO and product of Tesla, Musk is no stranger to technological advancements. He has now helped create a new venture called Neuralink.

How will this new venture impact us you ask?

Well, Neuralink will be creating devices which can be implanted in the human brain?! Is he finally turning into a mad scientist or has he and his team create the next evolution in medicine.

The eventual purpose is to help humans merge with software and keep up to pace with the ever-growing advancements in artificial intelligence. Another major benefit of this chip is it can help improve your memory or allow for a more direct interfacing with computing devices.

Before you start getting worried, look on the bright side. You husband will no longer have an excuse for forgetting birthdays, wedding anniversaries and the milk you asked him to get from the local Spar. For the guys out there, imagine the world of possibilities, you can literally win an argument with your wife, cause all the facts will be stored right there in the chip and you can do it with…facts.

Yet, before getting carried away with the possibilities, the implant can solve more than mental issues. Apparently, the first use of the chip will be to repair brain injuries caused through a stroke or cutting out a cancer lesion.

It can even help quadriplegics and paraplegics by providing a neural jolt from the motor cortex to where the muscles are activated.

Then there is the threat of old age, seeing your children and grandchildren’s names fade into the abyss. A time of your life, where you attempt to fight the onslaught of forgetfulness, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. With the chip, you no longer need to fear forgetting loved ones’ names, nor seeing your mother or father forget who you are.

While the benefits of the chip cannot be ignored in terms of medical reasons, what about the normal man on the street?

Well, the chip is set to make us smarter than ever before. No longer will your child need to ask you for last minute help with a school project, nor will you be flummoxed with car issues, doing your taxes or studying.

What are your thoughts on the Elon Musk’s vision of creating these chips? Do you think he is going too far or is this exactly what we need?

Until next time, have yourself a FREAKY FRIDAY!!
