BREAKING NEWS: Criminals break into Absa Bank –

Absa Bank in Voortrekker Street was allegedly targeted by brazen criminals, shortly after 6pm last night (January 14).

According to a source, the suspects gained access to the bank after breaking in through the back door, cutting the alarm system.

However, once the men attempted to open the bank’s main safe, ABSA’s head office noticed activity and notified the police.

Police officials cornered off Allen, Voortrekker, Scott and Harding Streets were blocked off, but the suspects have thus far evaded escape.

While it is uncertain how many suspects were involved, according to sources the perpetrators escaped with nothing.

Police are investigating the matter.
