The exact circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear. However, according to an official on the scene, the bus was travelling from the direction of the Newcastle CBD when it allegedly collided with the Nissan bakkie.

The impact caused the bakkie to strike the VW Golf, adding to the destruction. An official source at the scene also disclosed that, after the initial collision, a fourth vehicle allegedly struck the VW Golf before fleeing. This claim is currently under investigation as authorities work to establish the full sequence of events.

Emergency services responded, with firefighters working to free the driver of the Nissan bakkie, who was trapped in the vehicle. The rescue effort was described as intense, as emergency personnel worked tirelessly to extract the injured individual from the wreckage. Magenta Emergency Medical Services’ Charles Steyn confirmed that two people were injured in the incident, while the driver of the truck escaped unscathed.

Medical personnel attended to two individuals at the scene—one from the Nissan bakkie and the other from the VW Golf. The first sustained critical injuries, while the second suffered serious injuries.

Traffic officials arrived to regulate the flow of vehicles and ensure the safety of road users. Meanwhile, police officers and tow truck operators worked relentlessly to investigate the collision and clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash and to verify the claim regarding the fourth vehicle.

    It’s bus number 3125…. not a truck

  2. ShawnV says:

TransNat buses should stay out of Newcastle. They have no regard for the rules of the road in this town, or its suburbs. This is one of many incidents involving the dreaded orange and white buses, and it sadly won’t be the last.

    • Anon says:

Totally agree, the Transnat drivers think the roads belong to them, when you contact the owners of Transnat to complain about the drivers you get a rude reply. Transnat drivers were obviously upgraded from mini bus drivers to Bus drivers as they drive the same as the taxis

  3. Werner says:

Just around that corner, there are robots that has not been working for the past 4 months. Do you think they will get fixed soon? And besides that do you think anyone stops there? It’s one of the busiest intersections on that road. Do yourself a favour and go see how dangerous it is to drive there.

  4. Aswad says:

Transnat and Pumaphambili drivers break road rules and are arrogant, reckless and brashful, perhaps because the owners are big sponsors of some political parties and supply busses for rallies and that means local law enforcement turns a blind eye to that company. You can fact check these claims.
