Newcastle ride-hailing drivers targeted in violent incidents

The Maxim office has started to receive disturbing reports from its partner-drivers, stating that unknown people force them to delete the company’s app and stop their partnership with Maxim. These individuals also reportedly mentioned the taxi association multiple times and pointed to its possible involvement in the incidents. The taxi drivers’ protests disrupt transportation in the city and affect the daily lives of its residents.

The affected partner-drivers suggest that one of the reasons for taxi drivers’ discontent is that they see ride-hailing companies as competitors and make efforts to prevent their growth.

Maxim intends to protect their partner-drivers and is ready to provide legal assistance and help in collecting evidence of the incidents. The company’s representatives will go to the police, seeking protection and justice from the authorities.

It’s important to note that Maxim and the taxi association operate in different niche markets. People choose between ride-hailing and taxi services based on their specific needs. When they need to travel from one location to another, they use the app to order a ride. On the other hand, the taxi association provides services along designated routes. No one should have the authority to take away another person’s right to make their own decision. Violence and conflicts disrupt the everyday lives of citizens.

“Ride-hailing services have become an integral part of modern life. Affordable prices and safety attract a lot of users. Progress is inevitable and we cannot stop it. Drivers of the taxi association should focus on attracting people to its niche market rather than violating the law. We will stand up for our partners’ rights so that Maxim can freely operate in the South African market,” said the Maxim team.

Ride-hailing apps are popular among millions of users worldwide, making them one of the most dynamic and rapidly expanding markets. These services boost the country’s economy, help reduce the unemployment rate, and expand the range of transportation options available to people.

Additionally, ride-hailing services contribute to lowering the crime rate by improving travel safety with advanced software and reducing unemployment among drivers. Protesters’ attempts to damage these businesses are detrimental to the overall quality of life in their city.

Taxi association took my spare wheel just only because they need R2000

  2. Stanford Andisen says:

Besides being carefully with these opponents, what any other source can be used as a registered platform on road use like to have what so called OPERATING PERMIT so that we can avoid many predicament circumstances during our working time.

  3. Maxim user says:

Maybe the taxi association should start reconsidering their rates they charge. I prefer the maxim drive app, the rates are reasonable, the vehicles are safe, the drivers are pleasant.

The so called Metre taxis association is expensive and the drivers are known to consume alcohol in their vehicles and then expect to have passengers in their vehicles, as for the heads of the taxi association clearly they are intincing violence cause of pure greed.

  4. Thulani Khonjelwayo says:

According to my knowledge, the National Land Transport Act 5 of 2009 clearly states that any vehicle that transports persons for reward should have a valid operating licence. You can not obtain a licence if you don’t belong to a taxi association. Clearly Maxim is in contravention of the law violating the right of legal operators who possess licences to operate.

  5. Ethan says:

To obtain a taxi license, a driver does not have to be a member of the association. Any driver can get one, including those who cooperate with the ride-hailing applications. I know that Maxim drivers are getting one

  6. Newcastle meter taxi association says:

If you don’t have opareting license then you can’t oparete even if it’s a app eg Bolt Uber or any ehailing. Here at kzn big no en you must have association. Santaco is a apex

    • Maxim user. says:

You guys rip people off with your fees, charge so much for a short distance, some of your partners who belong to your association consume alcohol and expect people to travel with them, the vehicles are in bad shape.

You want to attack ehailing services cause they do the correct way of charging per km unlike you who charges too much. It’s just greedy.

Get your drivers in order, get them to repair the vehicles they make enough then you can moan and complain and try intimadate others making a living.
I would rather pay the maxim fee before I pay 70 for a short distance.
