The collision unfolded on Tuesday afternoon, 29 October 2024, shortly after 12 pm.

Traffic officials were seen stationed around the VW, attentively monitoring the flow of vehicles, while a police officer stood beside the visibly shocked driver, taking notes on the events that had just transpired, while other police officers monitored the scene.

According to the driver of the VW Polo, the crash occurred as he was making his way along Allen Street towards the Central Business District (CBD). “The traffic light was green for me, and as I was crossing, the other car suddenly came and turned onto Allen Street from the opposite road. I attempted to swerve to avoid colliding with the vehicle, but it was too late, and I couldn’t stop on time,” the motorist recounted.

Furthermore, Newcastillian News attempted to locate the driver of the second vehicle involved, but they were unavailable as officials managed the scene.

Traffic flow at the crash site was severely hampered while law enforcement and tow truck crews began their investigation and worked to clear the area. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as a result of the collision.

As investigations continue, motorists are urged to adhere to road regulations and pay close attention to traffic signs to prevent similar incidents in the future.
