Newcastle SAPS are investigating a case of kidnapping after a local businessman was abducted from his premises on Marconi Drive, Riverside Industrial.
The incident occurred on 16 July 2024, when the businessman was forcefully taken and bundled into a vehicle by his kidnappers. According to reports, the assailants released him only after securing an undisclosed sum of cash.
The kidnapping allegedly occurred following a business relationship between the victim and the alleged mastermind. The businessman had borrowed a significant sum to support his enterprise on Marconi Drive. However, after failing to repay the loan, the suspect, along with an unknown number of accomplices, went to his premises, forcibly took him into their vehicle, and drove off.
The kidnappers drove around with their victim until he managed to arrange the payment of the demanded amount. Only then was he released.
Following his ordeal, the traumatised businessman went straight to the Newcastle SAPS to report the crime. Newcastle SAPS spokesperson Lizzy Arumugam confirmed that monies were paid for the man’s release. Although no arrests have been made as yet, Arumugam assured that the police know the identity of the suspect and that further investigations are underway.

Marconi Drive has been in the news twice in a matter of days. It seems to be a hotspot for dubious activities. Or, is this merely the rarest of coincidences…
Another kidnapping. Are the owners for cellfix owners still behind bars for kidnapping and trying to murder that man? I hope so as these pakis are known for bribing their way out and fleeing the country.
Yes the cellfix guys are still locked up. Only way they can get bail is corruption. A contact in the saps told us that Irfan khans wife Lilly gave the 3 suspects in custody up. She went to police and told them everything how the 3 suspects planned it and did .
