A terrifying series of events unfolded during a house robbery in Ncandu Park, Newcastle on Thursday morning, 13 June 2024. The incident, which occurred at approximately 8:30 am, began when a woman, at home with her seven-year-old nephew, heard a strange noise and went to investigate. Unbeknownst to her, two men wearing balaclavas were already inside her house.
Detective Captain Shabir Ismail explained that the two men had gained access to the house and encountered the woman inside the passage. “The men then tied her up and took her into the bathroom, where they put her in the bathtub and turned the tap on,” detailed Detective Captain Shabir.
The terrified woman, who had been wearing a scarf, had it removed from her head and placed around her mouth. With the woman posing no threat and the bath tap still running, the men then ransacked her house, stealing an undisclosed sum of money, her mobile phone, and a television set.
Displaying remarkable resilience, the woman managed to untie herself and began screaming for help, attracting the attention of her neighbours, who came to her assistance. Although the suspects managed to escape the scene, the stolen television was found abandoned in the yard. Fortunately, neither the woman nor her nephew were physically injured, though both were left in a state of shock.
Furthermore, Detective Captain Shabir stated that the Newcastle SAPS are conducting a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
In light of this, Newcastle SAPS Station Commander, Brigadier Vassie Naidoo, has called on community members to remain alert and vigilant. “No matter how safe an area is, an evil mind will look for any opportunity. Residents are urged to be aware of what is going on in their respective areas,” urged Brigadier Naidoo.
As the search for the suspects continues, Detective Captain Shabir Ismail encouraged anyone with information regarding the crime to come forward to the Newcastle Police.

Shame so all those Officers, security companies personnel and CPF members that go on and on about beggers, are these two also beggers? Or will you somehow find a way to link it to a begger because you want to get rid of them? Evil people!
