Service delivery improvements hit Barry Hertzog Park, Amajuba Park and Ncandu Park

From multiple sewage and water leaks to potholes ravaging the local roads, service delivery has finally been brought to the forefront in Ward 5, which consists of Barry Hertzog Park, Amajuba Park, and Ncandu Park.

This follows the Newcastle Municipality’s Mayor, Councillor Xolani Dube, leading the municipal service delivery team on an oversight visit to the ward to enhance local infrastructure and address community concerns.

The Newcastle Municipality’s Communications Unit explained that the visit’s main objective was for the municipality to listen to the community’s outcry while also quickly identifying and resolving pressing issues concerning the ward.

During the visit, the team conducted a thorough assessment of the area and identified several key issues, including potholes, defective streetlights, non-compliance of businesses, and overgrown verges and grass that required immediate attention. The Mayor and the team coordinated efforts to address these problems, ensuring that all necessary services were provided easily and quickly.

Moreover, Councillor Dube emphasised that the Newcastle Municipality was committed to improving the quality of life for all residents of Newcastle, and the recent visit to Ward 5 was a testament to that commitment.

“Our team has worked diligently to resolve the issues identified, and we will continue to provide the necessary services to maintain and enhance our community’s infrastructure,” said Councillor Dube.

The municipal service delivery team’s actions included repairing potholes and trimming verges, significantly improving the safety and aesthetics of the area. According to the government entity, this initiative is part of an ongoing effort by the Newcastle Municipality to ensure all wards receive the attention and resources they need.

The Mayor further emphasised the importance of continuous engagement with the community and assured residents that the municipality would maintain regular oversight and service delivery efforts to address any future concerns promptly.

In addition to this commitment, the Communications Unit stated that the Newcastle Mayor will visit all wards to address community concerns, ensuring that every part of Newcastle benefits from improved services and infrastructure.
