Video footage shows a tornado near N11

An unusual video is currently circulating on social media, showcasing what appears to be a tornado amid open land. The video was filmed showing the weather anomaly allegedly moving between the N11 and Utrecht, KwaZulu-Natal.

With this in mind, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a dire warning of severe thunderstorms set to impact Newcastle, Utrecht, and other neighbouring towns throughout Monday, 3 June 2024.

According to the weather service, the stormy weather could be accompanied by damaging winds, hail, and torrential downpours.

    Tongaat was very badly affected by the tornado. It seems it gathered momentum as it headed for the coast

    I don’t know how many tornadoes we need to have before SAWS upgrades it’s weather systems to track tornadic activity.
    We’ve had so many already that they “could not confirm” were actual tornadoes, yet even a child learning geography could identify one 🥲
