Man’s body found on the D96, police launch investigation

In a chilling discovery on Monday morning, 3 June 2024, the body of an unidentified man was found beside the D96 in Newcastle. The road is just a stone’s throw from Newcastle Corner and off the main road as you enter Newcastle.

Deon Laubscher from Magenta Security reported that a passing motorist, horrified by the sight, alerted them to the scene at 7 am.

Magenta Security promptly responded, securing the area until police arrived moments later. Laubscher further described the scene as deeply unsettling, noting that the cause of death was currently unknown. “The cause of death isn’t clear at this stage; however, it looks like someone went through the deceased’s pockets after he passed away,” he revealed.

It is further speculated that the man may have either passed away during the course of Sunday evening, 2 June 2024, or in the early hours of Monday.
