The incident unfolded at around 1 am when Ithemba Security alerted one of the establishment’s managers, informing her of a positive alarm indicating a break-in. She then promptly made her way to the franchise’s premises.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that the back door of the branch had been forcibly opened, and a piece of the alarm system was found on the floor inside. According to police reports, the security company apprehended two suspects within the premises after arriving at the franchise and handed them over to the Newcastle SAPS.

Newcastle SAPS Spokesperson, Lizzy Arumugam mentioned that further police investigations are ongoing, with both suspects expected to appear before the Newcastle Court.

Additionally, Rowan Allkins of KFC stated that the security company’s response time and dedication ensured the two suspects were apprehended.

“We would like to thank the security company for their great work and response,” said Allkins.
