As reported by the Newcastle SAPS, the incident occurred on Friday evening, 26 April 2024.

An official police source explained that while in the parking lot, the man decided to relieve himself, leading to a disturbing turn of events.

“He found a spot to relieve himself, and while urinating, someone came up from behind him and attempted to strangle him. The victim managed to turn around and saw that there was a group of people. They then assaulted him, before taking him back to his car,” said the police source.

Upon returning to his car, one of the suspects brandished a firearm, and the men proceeded to rob the startled man of an undisclosed sum of money, his shoes, and two cellphones.

Jan van Rensburg from Magenta Security recounted receiving a call shortly after the incident and promptly dispatching his team to assist.

“Unfortunately, the suspects had already escaped. However, we have received a description of the men,” stated van Rensburg.

Lizzy Arumugam, spokesperson for Newcastle SAPS, added, “No arrests have been made yet. However, police investigations into the crime are ongoing.”

As the police delve into the matter, Arumugam stressed the importance for residents to remain vigilant of their surroundings, especially when venturing out during the evening. “Also, try to avoid carrying large sums of money and refrain from displaying any valuables,” she added.

Yep it’s proposed in the bylaws, do you think the people who urinate in public will actually listen, it’s the same as consuming alcohol in public spaces, they have no regard to laws. Just do as they please.
