Authorities in the Helpmekaar, Dundee area have arrested two security guards for possession of unlicensed firearms, with suspicions pointing to their involvement in a farm attack.

Constable Siyabonga Nkwanyana, the Police Spokesperson, stated that the Umzinyathi District Task Team achieved a significant breakthrough.

This came after they received intelligence about two individuals, identified as security guards at a farm in Helpmekaar, Dundee, allegedly carrying unlicensed firearms.

“According to information, the security guards were allegedly involved in a farm attack during which firearms were taken. The incident is reported to have occurred at the particular farm they were guarding,” Constable Nkwanyana stated.

Upon the police’s arrival, two unlicensed pistols with live ammunition were confiscated from the guards, resulting in the arrest of both individuals.

“Upon circulation of one of the seized firearms, it was established that the firearm was reported stolen at Jeppe in Gauteng Province, a case was opened at Jeppe police station. Investigation continue,” added Constable Nkwanyana.
