Newcastle Municipality announces closure for Easter Weekend: Urges early payments

As the Easter weekend draws near and residents of Newcastle gear up to enjoy the long weekend, the Newcastle Municipality has announced its closure plans for the public holiday.

According to an official notice issued by the government entity, Municipal offices will shut down at 12 pm on Thursday, 28 March 2024.

Additionally, cashiers will conclude their services at 11 am on the same day. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, 2 April 2024.

In light of this closure, the Municipality has advised that all account-related matters, including opening and closing accounts, must be attended to on or before 27 March 2024.

The notice from the Newcastle Municipality further specifies alternative methods for making payments. “Account payments should be made at EasyPay outlets or via EFT, and prepaid electricity purchases can be made from the usual third-party vendors,” the notice stated.
